Brymo, in response, dismissed Burna Boy's freestyle as lacking originality and asserted his vocal superiority. The beef between Burna Boy and Brymo ignited when Brymo accused Burna Boy of lifting part of his unreleased album Macabre for Burna Boy's Grammy-nominated hit single City Boy. Both artists released tracks with lyrics interpreted as aimed at each other, fueling the rivalry further. Social media played a significant role in amplifying the feud, with fans passionately debating the merits of each artist. Despite the tension, Ruger and BNXN continued to thrive in their careers, with their respective styles earning them recognition and loyal followings. Ultimately, the feud came to an end when the two artists decided to collaborate on a new album, highlighting the transient nature of conflicts in the music industry. Reflecting on the beef, both artists acknowledged the unnecessary nature of their feud and the role of their passionate fan bases in perpetuating it.

7. Reminisce vs Vector

The beef between Nigerian hip-hop heavyweights Reminisce and Vector stands out as one of the most memorable rivalries in the music industry. The tension began around 2012, with both artists subtly dissing each other in their lyrics. The rivalry extended to social media and interviews, where both artists emphasised their unique styles and street credibility.

Despite the tension, the feud never escalated beyond words and eventually simmered down as both artists focused on their careers. The beef's legacy highlights the competitive nature of the industry and the importance of maintaining professional relationships.

5. Ruggedman vs Mode Nine

The feud between Ruggedman and Mode Nine, prominent figures in Nigerian hip-hop, originated in the early 2000s from artistic differences and ego clashes. Their rivalry played out through diss tracks and public confrontations, garnering attention from fans and the media. Despite its resolution, the beef highlighted the competitive nature of the hip-hop genre and the importance of authenticity in Nigerian music.

4. Saheed Osupa vs Pasuma

The feud between Saheed Osupa and Pasuma, two giants in the Fuji music genre, originated from professional jealousy and competition for supremacy. Their rivalry played out through diss tracks and public confrontations, captivating fans and the media. Over time, the intensity of the beef subsided, and both artists focused on their careers. While their feud left a lasting impact on the Nigerian music scene, it serves as a reminder of the competitive nature of the industry and the complexities of navigating fame and ego.

3. Davido vs Wizkid

The rivalry between Nigerian music icons, Davido and Wizkid has been a rollercoaster ride of highs, lows, and everything in between, captivating fans for over a decade. Their journey began almost simultaneously, with breakout hits that catapulted them into the limelight and solidified their positions as leaders in the Afrobeat genre. Despite their undeniable talent and global success, their relationship has been marked by intense competition and occasional conflict.

From subtle jabs on social media to full-blown X (Twitter) wars, Davido and Wizkid have engaged in a back-and-forth battle that has kept fans on the edge of their seats. While moments of unity and collaboration have provided glimmers of hope for reconciliation, tensions between the two superstars have persisted, erupting into public feuds that dominate headlines and spark heated debates among fans.

However, rumors in 2009 suggested an affair between Ruggedman and 9ice's then-wife, Toni Payne, leading to a public fallout despite denials from both parties.

The conflict escalated with two tracks: Ruggedman's A Word is Enough for the 9ice and 9ice's Talk, I Am Listening. Despite several attempts at reconciliation, including a joint appearance in 2015, the tension persisted. Both artists continue to contribute to Nigerian music, with Ruggedman respected as a rapper and 9ice maintaining his popularity. The Ruggedman vs. 9ice beef remains a significant chapter in Nigerian music history, offering lessons on communication and reconciliation.

1. 2Baba vs Black Face

The feud between Nigerian music icons, 2Baba and Blackface is legendary, stretching over a decade and involving accusations of song theft and betrayal. It all started with the breakup of their group, Plantashun Boiz, and escalated when Blackface accused 2Baba of stealing his song, African Queen. Legal battles ensued, but the conflict persisted, with Blackface releasing diss tracks and making public accusations. Despite attempts at reconciliation and out-of-court settlements, the feud continued, highlighting issues of intellectual property rights and personal grievances in the music industry. The impact of their rivalry shows the complexities of relationships in entertainment, overshadowing their musical contributions at times. Ultimately, the hope remains for a genuine reconciliation between these two influential figures in Nigerian music.

Nigerian songstress, Simi has finally addressed the recent flirtatious comments made by her colleagues Brymo and producer, Samklef, dismissing their remarks as mere comedy.

The saga began when Brymo stirred controversy last year by suggesting he desired a sexual encounter with Simi in exchange for a music collaboration. Claiming she turned down his proposition, Brymo purportedly refused to collaborate with her. Similarly, Samklef confessed his affection for Simi during their struggling artist days but refrained from making advances to avoid mixing business with pleasure.

In a recent interview on Angela Yee's show Way Up on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Simi expressed bewilderment over the statements made by Brymo and Samklef. Dismissing their remarks, she emphasized the lack of substance in their comments and questioned why they continued to talk about her in such a manner.

Simi further stated that the opinions of Brymo and Samklef did not affect her, highlighting that her husband, who stands by her, addresses any concerns on her behalf. She regarded the entire situation as more comedic than anything else, asserting her indifference to the matter.

With her candid response, Simi has effectively put to rest any speculation surrounding Brymo and Samklef's flirtatious remarks, choosing to focus on her music career and personal life without allowing external distractions to sway her.

Renowned Nigerian singer, Olawale Ashimi, popularly known as Brymo, has ignited controversy with a recent audio upload where he launched scathing accusations against fellow artists Davido, 2Baba, and Burna Boy, labeling them as murderers.

In the audio that surfaced online today, Saturday, April 20, 2024, Brymo alleged that the trio had targeted him previously and warned that they would live to regret their actions.

Specifically targeting Davido, Brymo claimed that the acclaimed singer has been responsible for the demise of all his male offspring. Brymo contrasted this with his own parenting, asserting that he is actively raising his son unlike Davido.

Moving on to 2Baba, Brymo criticized the legendary artist for allegedly leaving all his male children with their mothers and cautioned him to steer clear of him. Regarding Burna Boy, Brymo suggested that the self-proclaimed "Giant of Africa" may not even have children in his life.

Brymo concluded by asserting that these artists symbolize the absence of father figures in their lives. This latest outburst follows previous remarks where Brymo criticized Davido and Burna Boy for their claims in the Afrobeat genre.

The audio has since gone viral, sparking intense debate and speculation within the Nigerian music industry.

Nigerian singer, Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, known as Brymo, has publicly questioned his colleague, Tiwa Savage, regarding a line from the recent song she sang with fellow artist, Simi.

Tiwa Savage posted sleek photos of herself on Instagram on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, captioned with the phrase "You’re in my head papi." Brymo took this opportunity to comment, asking Savage about the thought process behind the line men are crazy in her collaboration with Simi.

Brymo acknowledged that men often express similar sentiments about women in private, yet there has never been a song focusing solely on how "deranged" women can be. In his comment, Brymo asked if the song was a form of reverse psychology and if Savage could expand on her reasons for including the line in the song.

In his words: “Hey @tiwasavage .. I’d like to know the thoughts behind the .. “men are crazy” line… because it’s the one thing boys say most in private spaces about your gender, and none of us ever made a song exclusively about how deranged y’all are…. Yet you did with Simi, and you are the first of both that I am seeing post from since then… so I ask ;- did you play reverse psychology on us, and making the song a projection.. and gaslighting the shit out of me by that??? … or you have real reasons to say so ??… and if it be the latter, expand it for me, please!!.”

Tiwa Savage is yet to publicly respond to Brymo’s inquiry, which adds to the ongoing discussion about the song's lyrics and their implications.

Nigerian music has a new chapter in the ongoing saga between Brymo and Burna Boy.

Brymo reignited the feud with a series of accusations and pronouncements on his Instagram story. The controversy began in September 2023 when Brymo accused Burna Boy of plagiarizing his unreleased work in the hit song City Boy. Now, Brymo claims Burna Boy can't stop seeking his attention, despite Burna Boy's international success with a Grammy Award.

Brymo then advises Burna Boy to abandon pop music entirely and "take a cause and focus" on something more meaningful. With a self-proclaimed "deity level" status, Brymo offered to help Burna Boy, but only if Burna Boy asks "like a man and respectfully."

This isn't the first time the two have clashed. In April 2024, Brymo took aim at Burna Boy in an interview, declaring himself superior and refusing to be signed by labels owned by Burna Boy or other Afrobeats stars. Burna Boy has responded minimally, with veiled shots in his lyrics and social media posts.

Whether Brymo's claims hold weight or are simply a publicity stunt remains to be seen. One thing's for sure: the drama between these two Afrobeats artists isn't over yet.

In a fiery response to recent comments made by fellow Nigerian singer, Brymo, Grammy-winning artist, Burna Boy has ignited a heated exchange, shedding light on a rising rivalry within the country's music landscape.

Burna Boy took to his Instagram story today, Monday, April 8, 2024, to address Brymo's assertions, asserting his dominance within the industry. With confidence, Burna Boy declared that his stature had grown so immense that rivals were resorting to any means necessary to provoke him. The Grammy winner did not mince words, criticizing Brymo's musical style as "Yoruba proverb music."

In his words, "At this point, they do and say Anything to get at the KING. werey dey sing Yoruba proverb music for us. When K1 and Saheed Osupa dem still dey carry us trabaye."

The clash between Burna Boy and Brymo stems from Brymo's remarks during an interview with skit maker and YouTuber, Isbae U, where he claimed Burna Boy had taken a subtle dig at him in one of his songs. Brymo's refusal to acknowledge Burna Boy in his own music and his assertion of personal value prompted Burna Boy's swift retaliation.

As the feud continues to play out on social media platforms and beyond, observers are eagerly anticipating the next move in this unfolding saga, which promises to reshape the narrative of Nigerian music.

Renowned singer and songwriter, Brymo has sparked controversy during a recent interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask with Online Personality, Isbaeu, where he made bold statements about his career choices and past actions.

The artist, known for his distinctive style and lyrical prowess, expressed a strong aversion to signing with fellow Afrobeat giants, Wizkid, Burna Boy, or Davido.

During the interview that surfaced online on Saturday, April 6, 2024, Brymo recounted an incident where he arrived late to a scheduled event and instead of apologizing, made a crude remark directed at his fans. When asked if he would consider signing with one of the mentioned artists' record labels as a gesture of apology to Nigerians and a sign of change, Brymo vehemently refused.

"I would rather go to hell," Brymo asserted, emphasizing his stance against aligning himself with any of the aforementioned artists. He explained that his previous comment was meant as a joke and insisted it was a one-time occurrence.

The singer expressed concern that the incident, which occurred three years ago, continues to resurface, indicating a lingering impact on his reputation. Despite attempts to clarify his intentions, Brymo finds himself grappling with the lasting repercussions of his words.

As the debate surrounding his controversial statements persists, Brymo remains focused on his music career while navigating the complexities of public scrutiny.

Brymo has readdressed Burna Boy's previous comment about his career falling off in a recent interview.

Following a video which surfaced in 2023 of Burna Boy advising fans during a rehearsal to hustle hard so they won't fall off like Brymo, the 'Ara' crooner after initially responding in a post in 2023 has readdressed the issue once again in a recent interview.

Brymo who recently announced the cancellation of his concert in Lagos, in a recent interview with popular entertainer Bae U spoke about what Burna Boy had said in 2023 when he was asked to complete a sentence.

Brymo categorically stated that the Grammy award-winning singer and performer should be aware that he would never be featured on any of his projects because he's not capable enough of earning the right.

This revelation comes right after the singer had initially hinted in 2021 in a conversation with fans that Burna Boy is one of the acts he would like to work with.

A year plagued with several controversies for the Sonic artiste resulted in a flawed headline show that could have certainly offered more.

As usual, the first day of October 2023 saw sonic artist and performer Olawale Ashimi Ọlọ́fọọ̀rọ̀, popularly known as Brymo, headline a concert that he tagged "order", a usual Independence Day ritual for those who are familiar with the singer-songwriter.

"Order", which was organised under that name for the second time on October 1st, 2023, was formerly known as "organised chaos," a headline concert by the ace singer, songwriter, and performer, which has become a highly anticipated event, attracting a diverse audience of music lovers and fans of Brymo's unique style. It was originally launched in 2016 and has gradually garnered momentum and progress since then. With each edition, Brymo pushes boundaries and delivers an unforgettable experience that showcases his artistic growth and evolution.

With 2022 being a good year for Brymo, including taking his ministry to his cult-following in places like Abeokuta, Ibadan, Abuja, and the United Kingdom, the son of a carpenter rounded up the year with a first 'order' which is arguably still his biggest headline concert till date.

The 2023 edition was held at Landmark Beach and, as usual, gave the fans a thrilling musical concert experience that continued to solidify the bold statement that the sonic artiste is one of the greatest performers on the continent. However, as interesting as that is, the concert was filled with noticeable flaws that made it a letdown. Here is a review of Brymo's 2023 'order' concert.

Branding and Partnership

For an artiste on Brymo's level, especially having scored a major screamer at his previous edition, the succeeding edition saw little or no branding or partnership, which was a major face-staring flaw for an artiste who accords himself as the "most powerful artiste in the world". This lack of branding not only caused inconvenience for the fans but also reflected poorly on the artiste's reputation. The absence of any form of signage (not even a backdrop) or clear indication of the venue left attendees feeling frustrated. A good number of fans ignorantly walked past the venue, only to later retrace their steps back to the venue after being lost.

Additionally, the stage was nothing close to the previous edition, as Brymo was made to perform on a confined stage, which was a bridge built over a pool. The lacklustre stage setup not only affected the overall atmosphere of the concert but also hindered Brymo's ability to fully engage with his audience.

The confined space and inadequate lighting took away from the immersive experience that the fans could have enjoyed in a concert. The whole setting made it look more like a usual "weekend live band" or "listening party" scenario instead of a proper headline concert, which Brymo's 'order' has been previously known for. A complete disappointment.

Participation

Despite the lack of sponsors or partnerships, the singer's undeniable talent and magnetic stage presence continued to captivate his dedicated fanbase, which remained loyal through both turbulent and tranquil times. Nevertheless, there was a noticeable decline in attendance, forcing the singer to opt for a small and porous venue. The braggadocious Brymo, whose social media engagements have consistently wrapped him in controversies, "disbanded" a committed section of his fans known as "sigmas" sometime in July, and that decision amidst other controversies might have resulted in the low turn-out, making him record his lowest number of attendees for his annual headline concert in three years.

Hopefully a humbling moment for the sonic artiste whose annual headline concert, which was already boasting of about 1,500 fans, was taken aback by a turnout as low as 400 people.

Performances

As usual and expected, a brymo concert is always a soul-stirring musical experience that will keep the fans screaming for "more music" and easily give the fans a worth for their money. The 2023 edition saw a handful of performances from other fantastic performers. Tik-Tok trending star Dotti the Deity was a major highlight of the night, with an impressive performance capped with his viral tune Forever Sweet.

Brymo, being one of Africa's finest stage performers, thrilled the fans with two hours of non-stop music! Although core fans would have deduced that the band (which again was a "new band") was very bland and for most of the time winged it out throughout the performance, digging a noticeable hole in the whole set. Some fans didn't get the mind-blowing musical instrumentation and composition they were used to and looked forward to.

Brymo's songs are usually laced with instrumental interludes, which soak listeners in the beauty of the singer's art, especially when rendered live. A quick listen to Brymo's Live! at TerraKulture Arena live album will give context. Unfortunately, that sonic pleasure was missing from the band (which could have been mostly because they were "new"), and for most of the night, fans had to mime the expected instrumental interludes by themselves. This lack of instrumental accompaniment dampened the overall experience for some fans, who were eagerly anticipating a full immersion into Brymo's musical world.

Despite the band's performance, Brymo's exceptional stage presence and captivating vocals shone through. Showcasing his unique blend of soulful melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, Brymo effortlessly transported the audience into a world of extraordinary musical experiences. Even though he performed for two hours, the fans wanted "more music!"

A subtle display of his enigmatic craftsmanship was when he performed his song Mirage, which was originally written and recorded in English, but performed on stage in Pidgin—a maestro!

Punctuality

Having backslided from being a prompt artiste to a latecomer courtesy of two previous occasions where he showed up late ('Blasphemy' on June 25th, 2022, at Terra Kulture, and 'Order' on October 1st, 2022, at Landmark Beach), the singer relatively didn't keep to time again, as a show that was scheduled to start at 8 p.m. didn't see the headliner climb the stage until several minutes after 11 p.m., rounding up the show at almost 1:30 a.m. the following day.

Conclusion

A Brymo show is always the show to be, and as earlier mentioned, the Sonic Act gave the fans the time of their lives. However, away from performances, the event was generally a disappointment, as it greatly lacked qualities for it to be considered a "concert" not to mention a "successful concert". For an artiste who has profusely built his brand over the years, with a niche for setting standards, it was obvious that there was a problem with the artiste's image for the year 2023, and that birthed a subpar headline concert.

It is crucial for Brymo to reflect on this disappointing event and identify the areas that need improvement. Taking the necessary steps to rectify his image and deliver a remarkable concert in the future will be essential for maintaining his reputation as a top-notch artiste.

Actions will always have consequences, and we hope Brymo goes back to the drawing board to make proper amends.

Nigerian sonic singer, songwriter, and performer Brymo slammed his colleague Peter Okoye over the recent police saga involving Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti.

Seun Kuti became a nationwide topic after he was seen on video assaulting a police officer on the third mainland bridge in Lagos.

Reacting to the event, Peter Okoye also known as Mr.P, a member of the duo P-Square, took to Twitter to plead with the Nigerian police force on behalf of the Grammy-nominated singer. He wrote:

Quite an unfortunate incident and from reports, it seems Seun’s family was in danger hence the altercation. When you understand what happens when a man is put in a situation to protect his family from any form of danger, our emotions get the better of us. I ask and plead that the #NigerianPoliceForce accept our unreserved apologies for the unfortunate outburst and tamper justice with mercy.
