The ‘African Giant’ Burna Boy Earns Multiple Nominations at AFRIMMA 2019 Awards & Music Festival

What a year of monumental growth it has been for African music? African music stars from all corners of the continent gave us amazing music and continued to push the culture. Without a doubt, the African music movement has gathered a massive momentum in the past year culminating in the Beyoncé album ‘Lion King’ – A Gift to Africa.

The AFRIMMA 2019 Award & Music Festival nominees list throws up a mix of incumbent stars who have continued to advance their career and youngsters who have barged through to earn their breakthrough. Nigeria’s Burna Boy aka the ’African Giant’, perhaps the fastest growing African star who has been on an immense rise in the past one year dominates the roster with multiple nominations. Mali’s Aya Nakamura was a shining light for female artists and bagged multiple nominations as well.

Some of the big names on the nominees list this year also include Nigeria’s Wizkid, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest. Davido, Yemi Alade, Sarkodie, Fally Ipupa, Harmonize also earned their place on the nominees list. Stars like Kuami Eugene of Ghana, Uganda’s Vinka, Congo’s Ya Levis as well as Cameroon’s Salatiel all earned their first Afrimma nominations.

African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) is a highly anticipated award show celebrating the beauty of African music, culture and artistry. The award show will take place on Saturday, 26^th of October, 2019 and will honor some of the world’s top African celebrities, artists, artists managers, producers, video directors, DJs and cultural influencers.

AFRIMMA is the sole award ceremony in the Diaspora that caters to all musical genres including but not limited to Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Hiplife, Kwaito, Lingala and soukous. This year’s edition of AFRIMMA is the 6^th one and promises to be the biggest edition of the biggest African music awards show in Diaspora. The star -studded event attracts guests all over the world and from cities within the United States as well as guests and honorees from various African countries.

Anderson Obiagwu, CEO/Founder of Big A Entertainment and AFRIMMA is one of the most reputable names in African entertainment in Diaspora. The Imo State-born music executive has, over the years, built a penchant for excellence, while becoming one of the most visible promoters of African arts and entertainment. What started as a passion to push the African brand on the international scene has become a huge brand. For over a decade, Anderson Obiagwu has promoted African arts, culture and entertainment. He pioneered proper tours for African artists, actors and comedians in Diaspora.

Anderson Obiagwu is an ardent and unrepentant pillar of support for African Youths. His influence over the youth spans entertainment and the medical field. For many top African artists, their story would not be complete without mentioning the impact of Anderson Obiagwu.

Anderson spent his childhood growing up in the Eastern part of Nigeria. People who knew him describe him as a young bright boy with huge dreams of impacting the world. Anderson Obiagwu is a serial entrepreneur at heart, and an unrepentant philanthropist whose support has been felt by many. He's a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt as well as the California College for Health Sciences.

Annual Children's Easter Party

For the past 5 years, Anderson Obiagwu has consistently organized an Annual Christmas Children party and Annual Children Easter Party. These parties are absolutely free and the idea is to give back to the community. Children in the Dallas area usually go home with fabulous and expensive gifts all at no costs. The Kids eat, play games and have merry on occasions that have become a ritual at Christmas and Easter.

Anderson Obiagwu is also heavily involved in charity work back in Nigeria, sponsoring hundreds of youths through school. He is known to be a believer in hard work and with that the sky is the limit. Hence, his passion to help hardworking youths stand out.

Anderson Obiagwu’s brain child Big A Entertainment has grown from a passion into a global entity recognized for the promotion of African music. All roads lead to Dallas, Texas on the weekend of May 3rd and May 4th as activities to mark 10 years of crossing boundaries with music takes place. Some of the activities lined up include a book launch, album launch as well as unveiling the documentary.

CZA is making his formal entrance to the Nigerian music scene with a very good commercial song. I see DJs and Alaba mixes hopping on this one.

"Funsho FadI, was born to Olabisi and Julius FadI. He began singing alongside his aunty Patience, who was a member of the church choir. She recognized his talent at a very young age and encouraged him to stay involve and focus in music. His father who was living in the U.S decided to relocate the Family to Dallas, TX, which included; Cza, his mother and 3 of his siblings in 2000. Going from learning the keyboard, and singing backup, Sean Cza finally settled on the Drum set which he learned in a two hour lesson. However, it was not until the age of 13, that his interest in music peaked.

In 2005, Sean Cza and his friends formed a group called “African Kings” which was based in Dallas, TX. The group eventually became a 3 member group which consisted of John Adewale (rapper), Dmite (producer), and Sean Cza (Lead Singer and co-producer). They gained popularity by performing in different cities, states and colleges in the U.S. During that time, they graced the same stage as, 2Face Idibia, Sunny Neji, Bracket, Timaya, Kelly Hansome, 9ice, Psquare, Eldee, Wande Coal, J Martins. It wasn't until after performing alongside D-banj in 2007, who is one of Cza's influences, was when his passion for music went into overdrive. African Kings was featured on the “boyfriend remix” by 2face Idibia and Fragrance and also featured Kelly Hansome on the song “Woman Wrapper” which was written by Sean Cza in 2009.

Now on his solo project, Sean Cza first performance was alongside 2Face, which was a remarkable show based on the crowds reaction. That performance got the attention of promoters in Dallas and surrounding cities and states which led to more frequent performances. As of date, Cza is working hard in the studio on his album and also taking acting lessons to polish his skills in the acting world."
