Barty won the game by beating Danielle Collins in straight sets 6-3, 7-6(2). She is the first Australian woman in 44 years to win the grand slam in Melbourne.

The Australian came from 1-5 down in the second set to get her name kn another Grand Slam trophy.

The victory gives Barty her third Grand Slam title after winning the French Open in 2019 and Wimbledon in 2021. She also joins Serena Willams to become the only active player to have won a grand slam on three different surfaces.

The Australian booked her spot in the final of the competition in Melbourne by beating Madison Keys in straight sets 6-1,6-3. This is Barty's third grand slam final and her first Australian Open final.

Barry will be looking forward to becoming the first Australian since Christine O'Neill in 1978 to win a single Grand Slam. She will face the winner of the match between Iga Swiatek and Danielle Collins.

Barry eased her way past Jessica Pegula in straight sets 6-2,6-0 to set up a clash with Madison Keys in the semi-final of the Slam. Keys had earlier in the day beaten French Open champion, Barbora Krejcikova 6-3,6-2.

Krejcikova's defeat means that Barty will retain her number one position when the next ATP rankings are released. Barry will be looking to become the first Australian since 1978 to win a singles Grand Slam.

The Semi-final game will be played on Thursday, January 27th, 2022.

She's an incredible athlete and an incredible competitor. One of her best attributes is that she's able to turn up point after point. I think it's just nice to see her back playing her best tennis. She's a champion and she's going to go deep in a lot of majors in the future, that's for sure.

Ashleigh Barty's next opponent in the Australian Open is Jessica Pegula, who has defeated Maria Sakkari to enable her progress to the next stage for the second year in a row. on Wednesday for a place in the semi-finals of her home Grand Slam.

It was an amazing game for Rogers as she came back from a set down to win the match 6-2 1-6 7-6 (7-5) to book a fourth-round spot. She will meet Britain's Emma Raducanu for a spot in the last eight.

It was all looking like Barty's day when she served for the match at 5-2 in the final set, but it was a great comeback from the American. Rogers had other plans as she saved the set and won four games in a row to have the set in a tie-break.

This is the first time Rogers is defeating Barty in six attempts. She faces 18-year-old Raducanu next.
