In an exclusive interview with the Recording Academy that surfaced online today, Thursday, February 1, 2024, Davido shared insights into his reaction upon learning about the prestigious Grammy nominations.

Recounting the moment, he revealed that he was at home with his wife, Chioma, when the news reached him. The singer expressed that, like any other day, he took a shower, prayed, and had breakfast before being informed about the nominations. Notably, the first person he contacted was his manager, Asa Asika, to share the exciting news.

In his words, “I was at home; the nomination list came out quite early. I took a shower, prayed, and ate breakfast just like a regular day, my wife was with me, but the first person I spoke to on the phone was my manager, Asa."

Describing the aftermath of the announcement, Davido mentioned, "I went on Twitter, and Instagram; my WhatsApp was blowiing up, and people just started calling, and everybody was happy.”

Speaking in a podcast tagged "I said what I said" with FK Abudu and Jollz, the 31-year-old opened up about his early beginnings in the entertainment industry, his career, and other interesting topics.

Asked if money had changed him over the years, the talent manager opined that it hadn't, adding that he had fulfilled all his youthful fantasies and was done with that phase early enough.

According to him, he was earning three to four million Naira when Davido dropped his breakout smash hit song 'Dami Duro' as his manager.
