One of Arsenal’s first-team players, Gabriel Magalhaes is reportedly set to be out for a few weeks due to an injury he picked up in the game against Sporting Lisbon.

What did Mikel Arteta say about Gabriel Magalhaes'sinjury?

"We had to make the change because he was feeling some discomfort," the head coach explained. "I was about to make the change for Raz [Raheem Sterling], poor thing, I couldn’t make the sub. We had to get him out."

Gabriel Magalhaes was forced off late with injury in Arsenal's emphatic 5-1 Champions League win over Sporting CP on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Mikel Arteta has confirmed. The Brazilian was replaced by Jakub Kiwior with just over five minutes left in Portugal.

The supporters of the club hope that Gabriel will regain his fitness before the league game against West Ham United on Sunday, 26, 2026.

The biggest game of this werkend is Chelsea vs Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, this weekend in one of the most talked about games before the final FIFA international break of the year (2024).

Both sides have been different in terms of their style of play this season as compared to their form coming from last season. The Blues brought in Enzo Maresca as a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino who has been remarkable since he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are coming into the game having won just one of their last three Premier League games while Arsenal are without a victory in their last three league games. However, the Blues enjoyed a splendid night in Europe with a triumphant victory over FC Noah but it was a case of another defeat for the Gunners as they were beaten by Inter Milan.

Cole Palmer is expected to return after his recent injury against Manchester United.

Declan Rice is a doubt for Arsenal, along with Kai Havertz. Martin Odegaard is expected to gets some minutes after he resumed training last week. Raheem Sterling cannot play against his parent club so he will sit this one out.

Head to head

Chelsea wins: 66

Draws: 59

Arsenal wins: 84

Prediction:

Chelsea have shown that they can step up against big teams but results have not gone their way so far and with Arsenal's poor run of form, we expect it to continue at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on German star Kai Havertz following a serious head injury.

Following a gut-wrenching head Collison in the UCL fixture against Inter Milan, Arsenal's Arteta has given the latest update on Kai Havertz.

Arteta addressed Havertz’s condition after the player suffered a severe head injury during Arsenal's Champions League clash with Inter. Late in the match, which saw Arsenal narrowly lose 1-0 at San Siro, Havertz collided with fellow German Yann Bisseck in an aerial challenge. Both players were fully focused on the ball, leading to a tangled fall to the ground. Havertz, bleeding from a head wound, was forced off the field for medical attention, raising concerns about a potential absence from upcoming matches.

When asked about Havertz’s availability, Arteta remarked: “Kai Havertz had a significant cut; hopefully, he’ll be OK for the weekend.” He also clarified, “No, he wasn’t concussed; he felt unwell yesterday, so I decided to take him off as I needed him at 100%.”

Arsenal's full injury list

Arsenal, currently facing a rough patch with only two wins in their last six matches across all competitions, will seek a turnaround in their Premier League encounter against Chelsea on Sunday after back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Newcastle and Inter Milan.

Things could go from bad to worse with key players scheduled to miss other fixtures due to injury in the coming days even after the return of the club's captain, Martin Odegaard.

Here are other players currently sidelined due to injury:

  • Declan Rice: Sustained an unspecified injury against Newcastle and did not travel to Italy. His status will be evaluated on Thursday, and he could be fit for the Chelsea game on Sunday, November 10.
  • Riccardo Calafiori: Out for several weeks after suffering a knee injury during the Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk.
  • Takehiro Tomiyasu: Dealing with an unspecified injury and unlikely to return until December.
  • Kieran Tierney: Recovering from a hamstring injury and is expected to resume training with the squad within the next one to two weeks.
  • Kai Havertz: Suffered a head injury in the Inter match, with no current update on his potential return.

Arsenal Football Club will be without Declan Rice ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the San Siro.

The Gunners decided to leave out Declan Rice from the team that travelled to Italy ahead of the crucial game. The England midfielder has played every minute of Arsenal’s 2024-25 Champions League campaign, and the Premier League, having missed only one game after his sending-off against Brighton earlier in the season.

Declan Rice did not train with the rest of the Arsenal squad on Tuesday morning, despite playing the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle United over the weekend.

Mikel Arteta could replace him with either Mikel Merino, Thomas Partey or Jorginho in the midfield. However, the good news is that Martin Odegaard is back with the squad and he is among the travelling party as he returned to full training on the morning of Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Arsenal's Sporting director Edu is reportedly set to leave the Gunners at the end of this season to join Evangelos Marinakis's group of clubs but it is unclear yet whether he has agreed to join the group.

Sky Sports News confirmed the news on its official website on Monday, November 4, 2024. According to reports, Edu had been away in Brazil on personal matters and arrived back late last week.

The Brazilian has been a key part of Arsenal’s transfers since he joined as the club's technical director in July 2019 before becoming the club's first-ever sporting director in November 2022. He has been responsible for the signings of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.

Only Chelsea and Manchester United have spent more since Edu arrived at the club having spent £867m and have won the FA Cup while finishing as runners-up behind Manchester City in the last two Premier League seasons.

The group of clubs Edu might be joining Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos and Rio Ave - and, in the future, potentially a fourth club they are looking to buy in Europe. Arsenal supporters will hope that the void that he will be leaving behind will not be a big blow to the club.

The quest of Arsenal Football Club to win the Premier League for the first time in over two decades suffered another major blow at the hands of Newcastle United.

The game against Newcastle United was the third time that Arsenal will be dropping points in three consecutive Premier League. Alexander Isak's goal in the opening stage of the game was enough to give the Magpies maximum points against the Gunners.

Arsenal are now five points behind league leaders Manchester City having played a game more. The supporters of the London team came into the match full of confidence after Gabriel Magalhaes was announced on the first team by Mikel Arteta.

They will also fall seven points behind Liverpool if the Reds beat Brighton on Saturday. These results will make it difficult for the Gunners to push for the title ahead of the stressful Christmas congestion in the League and the Champions League.

Arsenal's next game is against their fellow London team, Chelsea at the Emirates before the last international break on the year.

Mikel Arteta speaks on the performance of the 17-year-old youngster, Ethan Nwaneri for Arsenal in their Carabao Cup fixture against Preston.

Arsenal’s 17-year-old starlet Ethan Nwaneri stole the spotlight with a stunning goal in their 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over Preston, leaving manager Mikel Arteta visibly proud. This wasn’t a one-time showcase, either, as Nwaneri had previously netted twice in Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Bolton in the earlier round.

Nwaneri’s performance against Preston was especially remarkable, with his goal demonstrating both his skill and confidence on the field. He nearly scored again with a late shot that hit the crossbar, narrowly missing a second goal.

When asked about Nwaneri’s display, Arteta commented, “He did it yesterday in training, so we’re starting to expect it. He’s a tremendous talent with a great attitude, the right support around him, and we need to continue building him up carefully, step by step. He’s a special player!”

Arteta also discussed how they’ll nurture Nwaneri’s growth without stifling his progress, saying, “He’ll ultimately shape his own path, but I’m incredibly pleased with him… He’s driven to make every touch count and create opportunities. Off the pitch, he’s still a bit reserved around the squad, which is normal at his age. But his work ethic is fantastic, and he’s truly passionate about the game.”

Despite his standout performances in the Carabao Cup, it remains unlikely that Nwaneri will start in Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match against Newcastle on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Reports now indicate that Arsenal have begun to make plans for the January 2025 transfer window with a top Premier League striker as their main target.

Reports indicate that Arsenal have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak in the January 2025 transfer window, as contract extension talks between the player and his current club have stalled.

Isak, who has been on Arsenal’s radar, initially joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 and has since netted several Premier League goals in his 58 appearances. Despite having three years left on his six-year deal set to expire in 2028, Isak's future at St James' Park now appears uncertain.

According to the Daily Mail, negotiations between Isak and Newcastle began towards the end of last season but have now collapsed, with the club reportedly believing that the striker was ‘reluctant to commit’ to an extended stay.

The Swedish international is said to be eager to play Champions League football and has expressed concerns about the pace of Newcastle’s progress towards achieving that goal.

Should Newcastle fail to secure a top-four finish this season, Isak could potentially look for a move away, a scenario Arsenal might aim to capitalize on. Several clubs are also eyeing the 24-year-old, whose desire for elite European competition remains strong.

Newcastle’s head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, hinted last month that the club might be forced to offload key players in the near future due to financial constraints. In his statement, Mitchell revealed, “We can’t continue doing what we have over the last two and a half years solely relying on capital funding without selling players. We’ve made tremendous progress thanks to the hard work of many, including Eddie and Darren Eales, but we still need to balance our approach to maintain our growth.”

Arsenal will be closely monitoring Isak’s situation as they consider making a move for the prolific striker.

The supporters of Arsenal Football Club have been hit with injuries to three of their first-team players ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool.

The club confirmed that Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, and Riccardo Calafiori will all be unavailable for the clash against Liverpool. According to Mikel Arteta, Saka is expected to recover from his muscle injury in time, having picked up the issue during England duty this month. Timber has meanwhile not played since the beginning of October 2024.

Arsenal first team defender, William Saliba was sent off against Bournemouth last Saturday, October 19, 2024 while defender Calafiori picked up a knee issue in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.

What did Mikel Arteta say about Arsenal's injury situation?

Ben White has recovered from his setback and started the last two matches but Takehiro Tomiyasu remains a doubt while Kieran Tierney is not yet back from his long-term hamstring injury. This means that White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Jakub Kiwior as the only defenders guaranteed to be available for Arteta.

However, Arsenal fans will hope that they can find a way to defeat Liverpool as they can't afford to drop points in three consecutive games.

Mikel Arteta has reacted to the end of Arsenal's unbeaten run in the Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Arsenal's unbeaten run in the Premier League ended on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, marking their first loss of the season. Mikel Arteta's side struggled, as costly defensive errors led to both of Bournemouth's goals.

The first mistake came when Leandro Trossard’s unusual back pass to William Saliba caused the defender to panic, resulting in a foul and a red card. Later, Jakub Kiwior's under-hit back pass gifted Bournemouth a penalty, compounding Arsenal's woes.

Critics pointed out Arteta’s conservative tactics, which seemed to limit Arsenal's attacking potential even before the red card incident. The Gunners managed only one shot on target throughout the match, highlighting their lack of creativity in front of goal. Defensive lapses and their struggle to create clear scoring chances ultimately led to their defeat.

Addressing the performance, Arteta said, "We are obviously very disappointed with the result and gutted because we have to play again in that context. This time was even more difficult than the previous two we faced this season. Playing for 65 or 68 minutes with 10 men at this level is just an impossible task. It's an accident waiting to happen, not to get the points. I cannot fault the team for their effort, their commitment, how intelligent they are to play in the way that we have to do it."

Reflecting on the turning points in the match, he added, "There is a big moment at 0-0 when we have a clear chance, one-on-one with the keeper, but we fail to score. At the other end, we make costly mistakes. We have to take responsibility for that. Football is a game where errors are part of it. Unfortunately, tonight we made two big errors that cost us the match."

Kai Havertz, with his goal against Southampton, has joined Robin Van Persie as the only player with this goalscoring record for Arsenal.

Following an impressive goal in the Premier League fixture against Southampton, Kai Havertz has joined Robin Van Persie as the only player to set an impressive record when it comes to goals for Arsenal.

Havertz joined Van Persie as the only player for the Gunners to score in seven straight games at the Emirates Stadium.

Saints forward Cameron Archer, who replaced Ross Stewart after 27 minutes, gave Russell Martin's side a surprising lead.

But Arsenal responded swiftly, with Havertz delivering a clinical run and strike to level the score at 1-1, putting the Gunners in prime position to push for all three points.

Havertz's 58th-minute goal marks his fourth Premier League goal of the season and his 20th overall for Arsenal.

In an initial interview, Mikel Arteta revealed how to get the best out of Kai Havertz stating that, ‘Love. He’s a player that needs a lot of love. He needs to feel protected, he needs to feel chemistry around him. In football and in life he gives so much to everybody, so he needs that connection with the people. He got that from ourselves, and the moment he started to grow with our supporters I think that gave him a different dimension, different confidence.’

Following a victory over the Ligue 1 champions, Mikel Arteta has shared his thoughts on the performance of Kai Havertz in the Champions League fixture, Arsenal vs PSG.

In his post-match press conference manager Mikel Arteta heaped praise on Kai Havertz following his remarkable performance in their Champions League fixture, Arsenal vs PSG. The German forward was sensational, scoring the opening goal in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory on Tuesday.

Bukayo Saka added the second, sealing a crucial win for the Gunners. Havertz’s goal brought his total to five for the season, with three of those coming in the Premier League.

This win is a significant achievement for Arsenal, especially considering PSG's formidable reputation in the Champions League. With four points from two games in the competition, the Gunners are looking strong, and Havertz’s current form will undoubtedly play a key role in their campaign this season.

Speaking to reporters, Arteta said, "He has been unbelievable. His football intelligence, the way he understands space, his timing, and his ability to link up with others are exceptional. His work rate is incredible, and now he's a real threat around the box. He’s one of our key players at the moment.”

Mikel Arteta has given the latest update on the injury of Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper David Raya ahead of the Premier League fixture this weekend.

According to recent updates, Arsenal’s momentum-building start to the season could be severely disrupted this weekend as goalkeeper David Raya has emerged as a major injury doubt for the highly anticipated Premier League clash against Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Raya, a summer signing from Brentford who has been an instrumental signing for the Mikel Arteta led Arsenal has been confirmed to be a doubt for the Gunners ahead of the Leicester City fixture. His potential absence would not only disrupt the Gunners’ defensive rhythm but also raise concerns about their ability to maintain their early-season momentum.

With the international break looming, Arsenal will be eager to head into the pause with another three points, but Leicester’s visit poses a significant threat. The Foxes have shown signs of resurgence under Steve Cooper and will sense an opportunity to exploit any weakness in the Arsenal rear guard.

The 29-year-old missed Arsenal’s 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Bolton on Wednesday, with 16-year-old Jack Porter taking his place. The former Brentford star played in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City last weekend but reportedly left the Etihad with an apparent limp after picking up an issue during the game. Now, he is in a race against time to face Leicester on Saturday.

Speaking on his availability for the weekend Mikel Arteta revealed that this was hard to say or decide for now but the team still waits for the final reports from the medical staff who are assessing the injury.

Arsenal, who sit fourth in the Premier League, host Leicester on Saturday afternoon, followed by a heavyweight clash with Paris Saint-Germain three days later in their second Champions League match of the season.
