The news of the transfer was confirmed on the official website of the club on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023. Anthony Elanga is a good advertisement for Manchester United's academy following his performance since he broke into the first team.

He made his senior debut towards the end of the 2020/21 season, in the Premier League game against Leicester City at Old Trafford. He scored his first goal for the first team, as he helped the Red Devils to 2-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 21-year-old made 16 appearances across all competitions in 2022/23, including both legs of the Europa League ties with Sevilla. He scored a total of four goals in 55 appearances for the Reds.

He expressed his excitement on the official website of Forest and said the move was the right step in his football career.

"It’s a pleasure to be here. It’s a proud moment, not only for me, but for my family as well. It's the perfect next step for me in my career, it’s a big step and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Forest fans at The City Ground. I had interest from elsewhere, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place. I have been here with United, and from the minute I stepped out for the warm-up, I could hear them from the changing room. It’s a special place, but being here with Forest, I feel like it will be even more special. I am really ready for the challenge and I just want to embrace everything and get to work."

Elanga is the first official signing of Nottingham Forest of the 2023 summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to complete a £15m deal for Manchester United forward player, Anthony Elanga. The Swedish international is currently in the United States with the Red Devils for pre-season but he is expected to return to England for his medicals.

The 21-year-old joined the Manchester club when he was at the age of 12 and he was impressive since he broke into the team in 2021. However, he has failed to replicate the same performance last season failing to score a goal in 26 games.

If the deal sees the light of day then he will be the first player to join Forest this summer as against the 29 players that they signed during the 2022 summer transfer window.

The Swiss International has failed to break into the squad since the arrival of Erik Ten Hag during the 2022 transfer window. According to Manchester Evening News, the club have placed a £10 million price tag for any club that might be interested in the player.

He has started just one game since the start of this calendar year against Charlton in the League Cup on January 10, 2023, and he has been omitted from 10 of the last 13 Premier League games. He made his debut for the Red Devils in May 2021 and has scored just four goals in 55 appearances.

The 22-year-old made his debut when Ole Gunnar Solakjaer was the manager of the club but he got enough playing time under Ralf Rangnick.

Elanga was speaking at an interview after the 2-1 win over Sweden earlier in the week and he revealed that he understands Ronaldo’s perspective concerning the behaviour of young players in United.
He said:

Cristiano talks about young players in general. We are a new generation. I am always 100 per cent focused on what I am doing, but I can understand what he is saying. There are a lot of phones and a lot of technology. It’s quite easy for young players to get distracted and lose focus. I always focus 100 per cent on my job and what I do. Young players at United are listening, but I can understand what he is saying.

A video of Ronaldo speaking in an interview with Piers Morgan was released on Wednesday, October 17th, 2022 and his statement sent the internet wild with everyone coming through with their reactions. According to the Portuguese player, the younger players live in a different generation from his generation and that influences how they receive and process information.

The hunger. They have things more easily. Everything is easy," he said. "They don’t suffer, they don’t care. I don’t mean just Man United, but all teams. They are not the same as my generation. The teenager missed his penalty kick during the shootout to send the Red Devils out of the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday, February 4th, 2022. The game ended 1-1 after extra time which saw the match go into the lottery of penalty shootouts.

Rashford took to his official Twitter account a few hours after the game to encourage the teenager and not beat himself up about the incident.

Jadon Sancho scored the first goal of the game in the 25th minute just minutes after Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty. Middlesbrough came back into the game with a controversial equaliser from Matt Crooks in the 64th minute. The replay of the goal showed there was a handball incident before Boro scored the goal.

The result means Middlesbrough have qualified for the Quater-finals against all odds.
