Tottenham's midfielder, James Maddison revealed after the game why the team have been fantastic this season. According to him, Ange Postecoglou gave them a rule that was not negotiable when he took charge of his first training session.

He said to Sky Sports,

"It's one of the main messages [pressing high]. If you look back at the teams he has managed, they have always been front-pressing teams. The first day he came in, he said high-pressing is non-negotiable at any stage of the game. I think we had a game in pre-season when we went 2-0 up and sat back a little bit and he went ballistic at half-time. It was Shakhtar Donetsk here and he said it was how Tottenham have been in the past and he said it's a non-negotiable to carry on pressing throughout the entirety of the game.”

The manager of the North London side, Ange Postecoglou was named the winner of the manager of the month award for the second month running.

Postecoglou is the first manager to win the award in each of his first two months in the competition, having also claimed August's prize, the first Australian to ever win it. The last manager to win the first two awards of any season was Jurgen Klopp, in 2019/20, leading Liverpool to lift their first Premier League Trophy.

Tottenham are one of the two clubs that are yet to lose a game in the Premier League this season, Arsenal are the other team yet to lose a game this season.

Spurs scored five goals against Burnley, scored twice in stoppage time to beat Sheffield United, drew 2-2 in the north London derby at Arsenal, and achieved a first win over Liverpool since 2017. He beat Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery, Eddie Howe and Jurgen Klopp to win the award.

Who is Ange Postecoglou?

The 58-year-old started his career as a footballer in South Melbourne Hellas’s academy and went on to play for the first team, including winning four caps for the national team between 1985-88. He began coaching at South Melbourne, becoming the first-team coach in 1996.

He was appointed the head coach of rge Australia's senior national team in 2013, his four years. During that time he led them to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, winning the AFC Asian Cup in 2015 and securing qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

He became the first Australian manager to coach a top club in Europe when he joined Celtic in June 2021. Ange won the Scottish League and Cup double in his first season and delivers the treble, the Scottish Premiership, Scottish League Cup, and Scottish Cup in 2022/23.

The last season was clouded by Antonio Conte's post-match interview after the game against Southampton. Spurs led the game 3-1 for most of the game. The match ended 3-3 which left the Italian furious by calling out the players for their lack of discipline.
