Sky Sports News confirmed the news on its official website on Sunday, February 6th, 2022. Murray has participated in just one Roland Garros competition for the first time in four years. He missed 2019,2021 and will miss this year's competition.

He confirmed that the end of last year was a bit stressful for him and he won't want to take any chances by participating at this year's Roland Garros.

Right now I am not planning on playing through the clay. The past couple of years, the clau has made issues worse, last year I had some issues at the beginning of the year, the clay did not help, so I have spoken to my team about that and this year while I feel good and healthy, I don't want to take risks. It is not that I would not potentially play on clay in the future. Last year I almost missed Wimbledon, was close to not playing through to playing the grass season, I am not planning on playing on clay. I will still try and compete a bit during that period, I wouldn't do anything, that's my plan for now. I had a busy end of the year and the rest couple of months I won't take any risks and hopefully get a good build up to the grass season.

Murray was knocked out in the second round of the just concluded Australian Open.

Andy Murray’s Grand Slam ambitions were brought to an end as he fell to a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 defeat at the hands of world No. 120 Taro Daniel.

Even though Andy Murray had gotten off to a flying start in the Australian Open with his first game against Nikoloz Basilashvili, whom he had defeated in just five sets, the former world No.1 was stunned beyond words by Japanese qualifier Taro Daniel, who ended Murray’s title pursuit in straight sets at Melbourne on Thursday January 20th, 2022.

Andy Murray, who is known for his game sharpness, was taken aback by Taro Daniel, a Japanese star who was focused and showed no signs of giving up in the game.

This is the first time Andy Murray has ever lost to an opponent who is outside the top 100 at a grand slam. Arnaud Clement who was ranked No 91, was the lowest defeat Murray had suffered, and it was at the US Open in 2005.

Taro Daniel remained focused and succeeded in winning the first set, when Andy Murray struggled to clinch the opening set, Taro immediately secured another set as Murray struggled and became openly frustrated.

Andy Murray was called to order for smashing his tennis racket angrily on the tennis court, in his obvious signs of frustration. Taro quickly clinched the second match point and was through to the third round of a grand slam for the first time in his career.

In the other games in the Men's category, the fifth seed, Andrey Rublev beats Gianluca Mager 6-3, 6-3,6-2. Diego Schwartzman also got past Filip Krajinovic in straight sets 6-3,6-4,7-5 while 15th seed Roberto Bastista Agut beat Stefano Travaglia 7-6(2), 6-4, 5-7,6-1.

Frances Tiafoe needed five sets to beat Marco Trungelliti 3-6,6-4,6-2,3-6,6-3. 32nd seed Alex De Minaur came from a set down to beat Lorenzo Musetti 3-6,6-3,6-0, 6-3.

There was an upset in the Women's category as US Open Women's finalist in 2021, Leylah Fernandez got stunned by wildcard, Madison Inglis in straight sets to book her spot in the next round of the competition.

In other games in the Women's category, Hailey Baptiste defeated Carolina Garcia 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-3 to book a second-round spot. It was also an easy run for Samantha Stosur who is playing at her last tournament beat Robin 6-7,6-3,6-3.

Murray was speaking in an interview with Talk Sports on Sunday, January 9th, 2022. According to the Brit, everyone is shocked by the current situation and he hopes the Serbian is okay.

I think everyone is shocked by it to be honest. I am going to say two things on it just now. The first thing is that I hope that Novak is OK. I know him well, and I have always had a good relationship with him and I hope that he is Okay. The second thing I will say on it. It's really not good for tennis at all, and I don't think it is good for anyone involved. I think it's really bad

He also said, he will not like to comment more than he already did pending the appeal hearing that will be going down on Monday, January 10th, 2022.

What I would like to do right now is just wait for all of the facts to come out about what is happened, because every day something new is coming out and we are hearing new information all of the time. I need to wait and hear exactly what the situation is before commenting on it further, because again I don't think it is can't because some lf it is speculation. Some stuff has come out that really doesn't look good, either, I want to hear all the facts first before giving all of my thoughts on it.

Djokovic has been at the Australian border for the past four days after he failed he pass the expected criteria to come into the country.
