Amaarae revealed that she had flown her entire team in from Barcelona, Spain specifically to perform at the event. The team included audio technicians, visual technicians, and tour management personnel.

According to Amaarae, her team encountered significant hurdles upon arrival. Despite submitting a technical rider outlining their requirements well in advance, the production manager allegedly failed to fulfil those requests. Furthermore, rehearsals were reportedly delayed by three hours, and Amaarae’s team was unable to reach the production manager.

These circumstances forced Amerae to make the difficult decision to withdraw from performing at the award ceremony. She emphasised her long-standing desire to perform at the TGMAs. She also highlighted the efforts made by both her management and the awards' CEO to secure her participation this year.

Lastly, she expressed her love for Ghana and her desire to represent the country, but ultimately felt she couldn't deliver the quality performance she expected due to production issues. Amaarae also revealed the significant financial investment made to bring her team to Ghana, estimating the wasted expenses to be nearly $30,000.

Despite the setback, Amaarae maintains a positive outlook and acknowledges the hard work of her team.

Taking to her Instagram story today, April 1, 2024, the mother of one delivered a concise yet pointed response to critics who have accused her of shunning other female singers in the industry.

In her Instagram story, Tiwa Savage challenged those who perpetuate the notion that she does not support female artists, countering with evidence of her collaborations with several talented women in the music industry. Refuting the accusations, she emphasized her extensive list of female collabs, asserting her commitment to uplifting and collaborating with fellow female artists.

"But they ALWAYS want to say TIWA SAVAGE does not like or support female artists. Please who has more female collabs and There is sooo many more not even listed here. Yall miss me with that bull sh$t narrative, I dey hustle money on my mind," Tiwa Savage wrote, addressing the allegations head-on.

Further reinforcing her stance, Tiwa Savage shared additional posts on her Instagram featuring snippets from songs she has collaborated on with various female artists. Among the notable names mentioned were Waje, Ayra Starr, Amaaree, Becca, and most recently, Simi.

Afronations US 2024 has announced its first wave of artists. Rema, Amaarae, Adekunle Gold, King Promise, and Uncle Waffles will be performing at the festival. This year's edition will take place at Bedrock's Douglass Site in Detroit, Michigan. The festival will take place from August 17th to 18th, 2024.

The 2024 Detroit edition of Afro Nation will unite top artists from various genres including Afrobeats, Hip Hop, RnB, Dancehall, Amapiano, Afro House, and more on two stages. The festival promises top-notch and memorable live performances.

Amaarae is a singer, songwriter, and producer who defies categorization. She has a very unique voice that sets her apart from the crowd and although she is mainly an alternative artist, her voice helps her to create a sound that's entirely her own.

Born Denise Dua in Accra, Ghana, her musical journey began with writing poetry and eventually, she transitioned into song making.  Much to the unknown of others, She is equally skilled in music production. This allows her to design and execute every element of her music to make sure every note and beat complements her unique voice.

Her music is a blend of genres.  Afrobeat is the foundation, but she infuses bits of R&B, hip-hop, and even jazz into her music.

Lady Donli

Donli Osayemi, is an alternative artist and a member of the Lagos Panic. She is well known for her hit single Cash. Surprisingly, her journey to music wasn't a conventional one.  With a degree in Law, she seemed destined for a different path. But her passion for music burned bright, leading her to trade in textbooks for microphones and drum machines. This rebellious spirit is evident in her music, which often challenges societal norms and celebrates individuality.
