MANCHESTER UNITED ANNOUNCE ITS PLAYERS’ PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The Gunners confirmed the departure of Alexander Lacazette at the end of his contract which expires on the 30th of June 2022. According to reports from the club, both parties failed to reach an agreement on a new contract.

The striker joined Arsenal from Lyon in 2017, he was the club's leading goal scorer in two seasons in the 2017/18 and the 2020/21 football seasons.

The club's manager, Mikel Arteta appreciated the work that Lacazette put in for the club during his time at the Emirates.

Laca has been a fantastic player for us. He’s been a real leader on and off the pitch and has been a very important influence to our younger players.His commitment with us has been exceptional and we wish him and his family success and happiness.

He scored a total of 206 appearances for the Gunners finding the back of the net 71 times.

Arteta confirmed the news during his pre-match conference ahead of the club's premier league game against Wolves on Thursday, February 10th, 2022. The Gunners have not been without a permanent captain following the situation that they had with Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

Lacazette is currently in the last six months of his contract at the North London club. He is the most experienced player in the Arsenal squad and does not look like he will renew his contract at the end of the season.
