Fulham's Alex Iwobi has cemented his place in the Premier League record books! In a recent match against Newcastle United.

Alex Iwobi played the entire 90 minutes, pushing his total Premier League playing time to a staggering 16,289 minutes. This achievement surpasses the previous record held by legendary midfielder John Mikel Obi, who clocked in at 16,218 minutes.

Iwobi's journey to the top began with Arsenal in 2015. Since then, he's consistently featured for his clubs, racking up valuable minutes on the pitch. This season alone, the 27-year-old has been a key player for Fulham, making 24 appearances and scoring five goals.

While Mikel Obi may have held the record for most minutes, his career boasts a cabinet full of trophies. During his impressive 11-year stint with Chelsea, Obi secured two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the prestigious Champions League trophy in 2012.

This record-breaking feat is a testament to Iwobi's dedication and consistency in the Premier League. As he continues his career, it will be exciting to see if he can add even more minutes and potentially challenge Mikel Obi's legacy with future achievements.

Alex Iwobi has opened up for the first time on the first player Victor Osimhen who reached out to him following the online bullying incident which took place after Nigeria's defeat at AFCON 2023.

Alex Iwobi in a recent podcast session spoke on how he had no idea that he was being bullied online till Victor Osimhen came to his room to talk to him about it mentioning how it was wrong for him to be subjected to such hate.

Iwobi revealed that he had told the Napoli frontman that it was part of football as him being subjected to such was not a new thing for him and as such he could hardly be bothered about the incident.

The Fulham midfielder also spoke about why he had not been creative at AFCON 2023. Iwobi stated, “Frank (Onyeka) and I were instructed to stay where we were, go for every second ball, run, keep the ball, manage it, change it from left to right, all you have to do is manage to the game. That was the role we were asked to play, you have to be there always because we have wingbacks like Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, and Samuel Chukwueze that can at least support in the attack. So, when you try to communicate, it’s hard because the fans were a lot, we hardly could communicate, it was hard to adjust but we just had to do what we have been doing in all competition, stay defensive, come back but it was hard to press or even create chances.”

After a period of silence following the abuse from the AFCON finals, Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi has returned to social media with a video post on his Instagram account.

The video shows highlights of his football career and personal life, with a rap song playing in the background. The caption simply says "Lately…"

Fans think the rap, which might be written by Iwobi himself, talks about his life story. The words say things like overcoming difficulties, believing in himself, and succeeding even when people doubted him.

The rap starts with, "Never thought I'd make it, but now people know me," showing how he's become famous. Later, he says things like, "Everything was worth it, now I'm known worldwide," celebrating his achievements. He also seems to be talking to people who didn't believe in him, saying, "They said I wasn't good enough."

Although the full meaning of the video is unclear, it has gotten a lot of people on Instagram talking about it. It's not clear if it's meant to motivate others, respond to criticism, or just share his thoughts. But one thing is for sure - Alex Iwobi is back online and making his voice heard again.

Goals from Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey in the fixture against Man United led Fulham to a new season record.

Fulham earned their first away victory over Man United for the first time in over 20 years whilst also breaking their poor run of form record in away fixtures since August with their 2-1 win over The Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Calvin Bassey took the lead from a set piece for Fulham in the second half of the game to score his first goal for the club, with Harry Maguire drawing the game level a few minutes to stoppage time, Adama Traore proved important for Fulham as his break away and pass to Alex Iwobi earned the team the late winner in the final minutes of the game.

Alex Iwobi in his post-match interview revealed that the win was important to the team and that breaking the record was also a morale booster going into other games in the season.

The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, recently met with Alex Iwobi in a one-on-one session to address the cyberbullying the football star had experienced.

Iwobi had suffered a high level of cyberbullying after the Super Eagle's loss at the AFCON 2023 finals. Rumours were also spreading about him retiring from football. During the meeting, the minister offered words of encouragement and reassurance to Iwobi, emphasising that the majority of fans recognise and appreciate his contributions to the team's success.

His message to Iwobi was one of pride and support, as he stated, "You did your best for your country, and I am proud of you. The leadership and the rest of the country are proud of you. Those who are not are in the far minority and do not speak for the rest of our country, so just be strong. You did your best, you are part of a team that brought home a silver medal, which the country last won at AFCON 2000, 23 years ago. You put in your best, thank you very much."

By publicly expressing support and appreciation for Iwobi's performance, Senator Enoh sends a powerful message against online harassment and stands in solidarity with the football star. It also sets a positive example for addressing the well-being of athletes in the wake of online abuse.

In the wake of Nigeria's disappointing loss to Ivory Coast in the AFCON finals, Super Eagles player Alexander Iwobi has been subjected to intense cyberbullying and criticism from fans across various social media platforms.

However, amidst the turmoil, Nigerian rapper, Falz and other notable Nigerian celebrities have stepped up to defend Iwobi and condemn the culture of online abuse.

Renowned comedian and actor, AY Makun, took to social media to publicly appeal to critics of Iwobi, emphasizing the detrimental consequences of cyberbullying. Makun shared images highlighting Iwobi's contributions to the Super Eagles' success and urged Nigerians to stop criticizing the footballer, advocating for a culture of care and respect on the internet.

Following Makun's lead, Falz expressed solidarity with Iwobi, emphasizing the sacrifices made by players to represent their nation. Falz showcased the importance of supporting athletes and denounced the mistreatment of Iwobi by fans, urging for unity both in victory and defeat.

Socialite, Yhemolee also chimed in, offering his perspective on the situation and suggesting that the intense criticism directed at Iwobi was a common occurrence in sports fandom. While acknowledging the disappointment of fans, Yhemolee called for understanding and empathy towards the player.

Super Eagles striker, Ahmed Musa penned an impassioned open letter to fans, imploring them to cease further criticism of Iwobi and redirect their focus towards supporting the team as a whole. Musa emphasized the collective responsibility of the team in both triumphs and setbacks and urged fans to spread love and genuine encouragement to the players.

However, amidst the outpouring of support, self-proclaimed entertainer, Tunde Ednut faced backlash for seemingly endorsing the bullying of Iwobi. Ednut's reposting of a video mocking Iwobi drew criticism from fans, further highlighting the negative impact of cyberbullying in sports.

As the saga surrounding Iwobi unfolds, the response from celebrities serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of compassion, respect, and solidarity in the face of adversity within the sports community.

Super Eagles of Nigeria's captain Ahmed Musa was the first person to share a post in solidarity for Alex Iwobi following the ongoing bullying on social media where he questioned the decision of certain individuals who took to the Fulham midfielder's comment section to hurl insults at him following the 2023 AFCON competition.

His post on social media indicated that the gestures of the individuals defeat the purpose of unity and solidity that should exist in the team and also with fans. His post on social media read, "Dear fans, I want to please urge you to halt the cyber-bullying directed towards Alex Iwobi. Cyber bullying is not just a violation of decency but also a serious crime. It's hypocritical to claim that football unites us while engaging in such behavior. Losing a game is undoubtedly tough, but targeting a single player for the team's shortcomings is unfair and unjust. We win as a team, and we lose as a team. Alex gave his all on the field, just like every member of our squad. Instead of spreading negativity, let's show genuine love and support to our players. They need our encouragement now more than ever. Let's uplift each other and stand united, both in victory and defeat."

Nigerian Super Eagles player, Alexander Iwobi, has responded after facing intense criticism following Nigeria's loss in the AFCON finals.

The distraught footballer took a drastic step by clearing his Instagram posts on Monday, February 12, 2024, initially leaving only one promotional post for his brand but eventually clearing that as well.

Iwobi's action came in the wake of relentless trolling by Nigerians who blamed him for the team's defeat against Ivory Coast. Disheartened by the online harassment, Iwobi opted to wipe his Instagram feed clean, keeping only a solitary promotional post and disabling comments on his remaining post.

As the nephew of the iconic Nigerian footballer, Jay Jay Okocha, expectations were high for Iwobi to emulate his uncle's stellar performances. However, his perceived subpar performance in the AFCON finals drew the attention of fans, leading to widespread online ridicule.

The decision to purge his Instagram account elicited a flurry of reactions from fans, further highlighting the intense scrutiny and pressure faced by athletes in the age of social media.

Interestingly, after debuting at the number 4 position on the UK Apple music album charts and number 6 on the US counterpart, BNXN's EP currently holds the position of being the third highest charting Nigerian project after Burna Boy's Love Damini and Wizkid's Made in Lagos. BNXN has also made it known that on the project, he took care to craft melodies for different emotions and actions and was not particular about making dance music.

BNXN and Alex have been publicly friends as far back as 2021 when the footballer gave the singer who was then known as Buju a signed jersey.

Compiling a list of the highest-paid Nigerian footballers in Europe is not about a show of wealth but an indication of how much Nigerian football has evolved and how well Nigerian footballers are being treated.

Football as a sport is a very lucrative business, and players often get huge bonuses and salaries for their talents. Nigerian footballers are not left out as well because we have key players who represent the nation at the club level in Europe and get well paid for it.
