Aaron Ramadale has found it difficult to get his place back in the team across all competitions since the Spanish International joined the Gunners on loan from Brentford. "I need to get back into my club team to keep getting picked (for England) and keep giving the manager a headache because if I'm not, then that's an easier decision for him. It is the first time I have found myself in this situation. The manager here (Southgate) is brilliant, he trusts the players he's worked with before. You'll see Kalvin (Phillips) and Harry (Maguire) haven't played the most amount of minutes but when they step up for England and are given the opportunity, they perform. So if that's the case for myself and I do get shown that trust to play another game if I haven't played for my club, then I will have to repay him."

He also said that he needs to get his position back at Arsenal which will give him an edge to break into the Three Lions first-team.

"But, of course, I want to get back into my club team. I want to get into my club team and be able to give the manager a headache rather than just have Jordan as the number one and me fall by the wayside. First and foremost, I've got to give the manager a decision and be available to be picked and that is by getting back into my club team. If that's not the case, then we'll see in three or four weeks.”

Time will tell if Ramsdale finds a way to break into Arsenal's first team or leave the Emirates when the January 2024 transfer window opens.

Raya revealed his relationship with Aaron Ramsdale in an interview with the Athletic. According to him, they are both on good terms, but that does not take away the competition between them when it comes to who starts ahead of the other.

"The relationship? It’s very good. At the end of the day, we are mates, which is the important thing. We have a very healthy relationship. There are no problems. We push each other every day in training: when he’s a little bit down, I push him, and when I’m a little bit down (he does the same). We train three goalkeepers, four at the most, for hours a week, and you need that kind of relationship because otherwise, the training is not going to go well. I don’t like to look to the future, I like to look at the day-to-day but the perfect end would be to win a title with Arsenal, to be called up to the national team for the European Championship, and to have a good tournament.”

Ramsdale was initially picked ahead of Raya at the beginning of this season, starting the games against Crystal Palace and Manchester United, as well as the draw with Fulham. The Englishman was speaking in an interview with the Players' Tribune where he confirmed that his wife had a miscarriage on their way back from the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Aaron Ramsdale confirmed that the only escape route he had during that trying time was football despite the effort of Mikel Arteta wanting him to take a break. Three days later, he played for Arsenal at the White Hart Lane stadium to face Tottenham.

"After the high of climbing to the top of the Premier League table and going off to my first World Cup, my wife and I found out that we were expecting our first child. Mikel gave me a few extra days off after the World Cup, so we went on a brief holiday. It was genuinely the happiest time of our lives. And yeah there’s no easy way to say this, but I feel like it’s important that people know. On the flight home, my wife had a miscarriage. There’s really no way that I can describe the pain of that six-hour flight back to London, even now. I just want people out there to know that they’re not alone if they’re going through it themselves. When we got back, I didn’t tell many people what happened. Only my family, my teammates, and of course Mikel."

He added that he needed to be available for the game against Spurs so he can take his mind off the situation.

"Three days later, we were playing Spurs in the derby, and for me that was the only way to get my mind off things. Football has always been my escape. I told the manager I wanted to play. It couldn’t have been a better night. We won 2–0 under the floodlights, and our away fans were going absolutely ballistic. If you watch the match back, you can see me beaming at the final kick of the ball."

Ramsdale has revealed that his wife, Georgina, is now pregnant again and he hopes by sharing his story he can help others who have experienced the pain of a miscarriage.

Ramsdale signed for Bournemouth in 2017 when the cherries were in the Premier League. He spent three years at the club during which he had loan spells, first with Chesterfield, then AFC Wimbledon where he won the club's player of the season. The news of the transfer was announced on the Gunners' website on Friday, August 20th, 2021.

Ramsdale was Sheffield United player of the season in the 2020/21 season, he also was Bournemouth's player of the season in the 2019/20 season. He was part of the England squad that took part at the just concluded EURO 2020.

The 23-year-old will wear jersey Number 32 for the club. It is still uncertain if he will be available for selection when Arsenal plays Chelsea on Sunday, August 22nd, 2021.
