In what has been categorized as contradicting opinions, Pep Guardiola and Ilkay Gundogan have shared different opinions on Man City's 7th defeat in 10 games.

Pep Guardiola and Ilkay Gundogan offered contrasting views on Man City’s 2-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League. Gundogan voiced concerns about the team’s mentality, suggesting they need to “sacrifice more” and simplify their playstyle. He criticized City for overcomplicating their approach, losing possession in transitions, and struggling against counter-attacks.

Guardiola, however, maintained a positive outlook, commending the team’s performance despite the defeat. He disagreed with Gundogan’s assessment, emphasizing that City handled complexity well in the match and performed admirably against Juventus' defensive strategies.

The loss is City’s seventh in 10 games across all competitions, putting their Champions League campaign in jeopardy. Their next fixtures include an away game against Paris Saint-Germain and a home match against Club Brugge.

Reflecting on the defeat, Gundogan remarked, “It’s very disappointing. We had chances to score a few goals, but it feels like every attack we concede is so dangerous. Sometimes we’re a bit careless in duels. Instead of playing simple, we overcomplicate things, missing the right timing to release the ball, losing possession, and giving away counter-attacks. We’re built for possession, to keep the ball, be strong, and not lose it unnecessarily. At the moment, it’s just not working for us.”

When Guardiola was informed of Gundogan’s remarks, he responded, “He said we don’t need...sorry? No, no. Today, we did it. On other days, maybe not, but today we did it really well. We didn’t lose many balls like we have in the past. We tried to get into the best positions. Italian teams defend very deep, they’re compact, and they excel in these situations. Even so, we played true to ourselves. We didn’t get the result, but the performance was there.”

Pep Guardiola has opened up on his plans for coaching upon his departure from Man City when his contract comes to an end.

Pep Guardiola has dismissed the prospect of managing another club once his iconic tenure at Manchester City concludes.

The 53-year-old ended speculation about his future in November by signing a two-year contract extension. This new agreement extends his stay at the Etihad Stadium to over a decade, following his arrival in 2016.

Guardiola, who previously achieved great success with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, has cemented his legacy at City as the club’s most decorated manager. During his time with the Citizens, he has secured 18 trophies across seven competitions, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy, maintaining an impressive 71.5% win rate from 495 games.

What is next for Man City after a bad run of form?

After guiding City to an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, Guardiola now faces one of his most challenging periods, with the team recording just one win in their last nine games across all competitions. Despite this, Guardiola remains committed to restoring his team’s dominance.

He has also affirmed his loyalty to Manchester City, vowing to remain as manager even if the club faces relegation due to alleged financial rule breaches. His current contract runs until the summer of 2027.

Has Guadiola coached a country before?

In a conversation with Spanish chef Dani Garcia on the Desmontadito YouTube channel, Guardiola confirmed he would not manage another club after leaving City.

"I'm not going to manage another team," he stated. "I'm not speaking about the distant future, but I won’t leave Man City, go to another country, and repeat what I’m doing now. I wouldn't have the energy. Starting from scratch, with the training process and everything else… No, no, no! Perhaps a national team role, but that’s different."

Earlier this year, Guardiola was linked with the England national team job following Gareth Southgate's departure. However, the Football Association appointed Thomas Tuchel on an 18-month contract. There has also been speculation about him managing Brazil, with football legend Ronaldo reportedly interested in hiring him if he becomes president of the Brazilian Football Confederation.

Will Guardiola take a break from coaching?

Guardiola also hinted at taking a break from football, likening it to chefs who pause their careers to reflect on their work. "I should stop, like these chefs who travel to other countries. Take time to evaluate what we’ve done well and what we can improve. When you’re working day after day, you don’t have that opportunity," he explained.

"I want to stop and play golf, but I can’t. Taking a break would be good for me," added Guardiola, who previously took a year-long sabbatical before joining Bayern Munich in 2013.

As Guardiola readies his team for their Champions League clash against Juventus on Wednesday, his focus remains firmly on his current role at Manchester City.

The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has given a solution to the problem that is currently facing the club as they are yet to find a win in their last nine games across all competitions.

Pep Guardiola was asked in an interview where he was asked about the solution to the current crisis facing Manchester City. According to the Spaniard, the only solution to get his team back to winning ways is by getting his players back from injury.

He said,

"The solution to our problems is to give me my players back and we will do it. But it’s not possible right now, and I think it’s going to happen for a long time."

Manchester City failed to improve on their victory over Nottingham Forest following their disappointing draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The last reigning top-flight champions to lose six away games in a row were Man City during the 1968-69 campaign. The Cityzens have lost their last five away games in all competitions, last losing six in a row back in February 1994.

Manchester City travel to face Juventus in the Champions League in Turin after which they host Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

The supporters of Manchester City will soon find out the final verdict of the 115 Premier League charges that were leveled against them.

The Mirror confirmed on its website that the International Dispute Resolution Centre, according to reports, the final arguments were heard at London’s International Dispute Resolution Centre on Friday, December 6, 2024, bringing to an end to the hearing, which started on September 16, 2024. Manchester City was accused of multiple breaches of Financial Fair Play rules and of failing to cooperate with the subsequent investigation.

The Premier League Champions have denied all the 115 charges and believe that they will be exonerated. But if they are found guilty by the three-person panel, they could be hit with financial penalties, a points deduction or even be relegated.

The independent body has begun reviewing the evidence that has been put before them. They will deliberate for a long time and even once a verdict has been returned, an appeal is very likely to extend the case until the end of next season.

Sheikh Mansour's seismic takeover in 2008, Manchester City have won eight Premier League titles, three FA Cups, six League Cups, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. However, City will still be looking to win the Premier League for the fifth consecutive time despite the tension at the club, both on and off the pitch.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has brutally responded to Pep Guardiola claim of the number of Premier League titles won.

The Portuguese international was speaking in a press conference where he was asked about Pep Guardiola's hand gesture comments on the number of League titles he had won during the defeat against Liverpool at Anfield.

What did Jose Mourinho say about Pep Guardiola?

"Pep said he won six Premier Leagues and I won three, but I won fairly and cleanly. If I lose, I want to congratulate my opponent because they are better than me. I don’t want to win with 150 lawsuits."

Mourinho made the same gesture after raising three fingers, for the three titles he won over his two spells at Chelsea when he was taunted for his poor form during his days at Manchester United.

City have claimed they are innocent of the charges, while they relate to the time between 2009 and 2018 when Guardiola won his first Premier League title. If City are found guilty, one of the potential punishments is they could be stripped of some of the titles they have won while Mourinho's United finished second, 19 points behind City, in 2018.

Pep Guardiola saw his Manchester City side suffer another defeat in the Premier League as his team lost 2-0 to the league leaders, Liverpool at Anfield.

The Premier League Champions headed into the game having failed to secure a win in their last six games across all competitions. Goals from Coady Gakpo and Mohamed Salah ensured that Liverpool extended their lead over Manchester City by 11 points who are currently placed in fifth place.

What did Pep Guardiola say about Manchester City defeat against Liverpool?

He said,

"I congratulate Liverpool and we'll reset and start from zero and it is difficult to believe it. I rely a lot on these Manchester City players, I know they are doing in this position. We'll see what happens by the end of the season. There is a moment where maybe it'll click. Kevin [De Bruyne] played good minutes, Jack [Grealish] played well, Jeremy [Doku] played good minutes after a month out. Bernardo and Rico [Lewis] have a lot of minutes in their legs. Nathan [Ake] was exceptional against one of the great wingers. I congratulate Liverpool, they deserve the victory, we accept the situation and we'll build from that."

This is the first time in the history of Pep Guardiola's managerial career that he will see his side go without a win in seven consecutive across all competitions. Manchester City will face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Wednesday, December 3, 2024.

Manchester City's head coach, Pep Guardiola has reacted to his team's poor performance in the past few weeks in all competitions.

Pep Guardiola was speaking in a press conference ahead of this weekend's clash against Liverpool at Anfield after the disappointing result against Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League.

He said,

"We are second in the Premier League table, we are not in a good moment in terms of results, but I have the feeling in general that we played more than decent, but not enough to win games. We will be back, I know that. I don't know when. That is the truth. One game is not going to change the feeling as how we are as a team. What I will ask is not a result, is for the players to come back. That is what I would like, to have the team, like we created at the beginning of the season, going everywhere to be who we are."

Manchester City have been in terrible form for the past six games, losing five in a row and a draw across all competitions. This is Pep Guardiola’s worst form in his managerial career, the highest number of defeats he has managed was three which was when he was at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Manchester City are currently eight points behind league leaders, Liverpool Football Club.

Pep Guardiola has addressed his statement about harming himself after Man City's shocking draw in the UEFA Champions League.

Pep Guardiola has issued an apology following backlash over his remarks after Man City's dramatic 3-3 draw with Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The controversy arose during the post-match press conference when Guardiola was asked about a scratch on his nose. Explaining the mark, he said, “My finger, here [gesturing to his nose]. My nail. I want to harm myself.” The statement was met with backlash after the interview.

Guardiola in an official statement on social media has clarified his comments and offered an apology. "During the press conference, I was caught off guard by a question about a scratch on my face. I explained that it was caused accidentally by my fingernail," he said.

"My response was in no way intended to downplay the serious issue of self-harm. I recognize the challenges many face with mental health, and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage anyone struggling to seek help. You can contact the Samaritans hotline at 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org."

Guardiola is currently facing mounting pressure at Manchester City, as the team is now winless in six consecutive matches across all competitions. Despite leading 3-0 against Feyenoord, with goals from Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan, City conceded three late goals in the final 15 minutes, raising further doubts about their prospects for silverware this season.

Reflecting on the result, Guardiola admitted the outcome was tough to accept. He stated, "It’s very difficult to digest right now. The game was good. We scored three, could have scored more, but we gave away the first goal, and after that, we weren’t stable enough. It’s not about effort or commitment, but in football, there are key moments you need to handle better. The second goal came from the second post improve, what else can you do? We’ll rest for a day or two and then prepare for Anfield."

City will now face a critical test against Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday, a match seen as pivotal to their season.

Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola has reacted to his team's disappointing performance against Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League.

The Spaniard was speaking at his post-match press conference after he saw his side throw away a three-goal lead with less than 15 minutes to the end of the game. Pep Guardiola has received criticism for making his substitutions too early in the game which was the reason why his aide failed to secure all three points.

He said,

"We have problems, yes, Three changes? The game is never over, but at 3-0, I could not see any danger."

He also added,

"It is not necessary to say anything to my players. They know perfectly."

Manchester City have failed to secure a win in their last six games across all competitions. The draw against Feyenoord was also the first time in his managerial career that he failed to win a game after going up 3-0.

It is also the first time that Manchester City have failed to win a match in which they led by three goals for the first time in all competitions since May 1989 against Bournemouth in the second tier (3-3).

Manchester City are one of the clubs in the Premier League this season that have been hit with injury the most. One of the major players on the club's injury list is Rodri. This has been a big blow in the Cityzens quest to challenge for the Premier League this season.

How many weeks will Matteo Kovacic be out for Manchester City?

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur is the biggest game in the Premier League this weekend as the players return from the final international break of the year.

The Premier League Champions have been in poor form in the last few weeks as Pep Guardiola saw his team lose four consecutive for the first time in his managerial career. On the other hand, Tottenham have been a shadow of themselves compared to their form at the beginning of last season Ange Postecoglou, which saw them go unbeaten in their first ten league games of the season.

However. Manchester City could take confidence from Pep Guardiola's latest contract extension, which will see him remain at the Etihad until 2027. The Spaniard will be looking to kick off his contract renewal with a victory over Spurs.

Tottenham are currently low on confidence after suffering back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace and newly promoted side, Ipswich Town at White Hart Lane before the international break. The good news for the Cityzens is that their struggling forward player, Erling Haaland had an excellent international break, scoring and assisting against Slovenia, before notching a hat-trick against Kazakhstan.

That’s bad news for Spurs, who have seen Haaland wheel off in celebration with three goals in his four Premier League appearances against them. However, they could get confidence from their victory over City in the Carabao Cup three weeks ago.

Manchester City vs Tottenham ( Possible lineup)

Manchester City;

Ederson, Walker, Stones, Akanji, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Gundogan; Bernardo, Foden, Savinho; Haaland

Tottenham Hotspur:

Vicario; Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie, Kulusevski, Bissouma, Sarr, Johnson, Solanke, Son

Recent form:

Manchester City have been very poor since they lost Rodri to a season-ending knee injury. Since the start of last season, City have played 13 league games without Rodri and lost five of them.

Meanwhile, Spurs have only won two of their last 11 Premier League away games (D2 L7), winning just once in five on the road this term. Since the start of this spell in March, no team have lost more Premier League away games than Tottenham (seven).

Man City vs Tottenham ( Head to Head )

Man City have won just three of their last 10 Premier League games against Tottenham (D2 L5), and they will be looking to win consecutive meetings with them for the first time since April 2019.

Tottenham have scored at least twice in each of their last three Premier League away games against City, winning 3-2 in 2021-22, losing 4-2 in 2022-23 and drawing 3-3 last season. No team has ever scored more than two goals in four consecutive Premier League visits to the Etihad.

Under Guardiola (since 2016-17), City have lost more Premier League games (six) and conceded more Premier League goals (22) against Spurs than they have against any other opponent.

Prediction: ( Man City vs Tottenham)

Erling Haaland has scored three goals in his last four games against Spurs and he will be looking to get more goals as them and shut up his critics. Spurs will also score following the form of Solanke and some of their attacking players but their leaky defence will be their downfall.

Manchester City 4-2 Tottenham

Pep Guardiola has decided to extend his contract with Manchester City for another two years which will see him stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027.

The Premier League Champions confirmed the news on its official website on Thursday, November 21, 2024. According to the club, the decision to extend Pep Guardiola's contract at the club was easy following his impressive performance since he joined Manchester City from Bayern Munich in 2016, this new deal means that the Spaniard has spent more than 10 years with the Cityzens.

How many trophies have Guardiola won at Manchester City?

Guardiola has so far won 18 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League. He became the first manager in the Premier League title last season (2023/24 to win four top-flight titles in a row.

He also became the first team in Premier League history to manage 100 points in a single season (2017/18) and the first in English football to win all four domestic trophies (2018/19).

What did Pep Guardiola say about his contract extension?

Guardiola expressed his love and his desire to sign a new contract with Manchester City.

He said,

Manchester City means so much to me. This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together. I have a really special feeling for this football club. That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons. Thank you to everyone for continuing to trust and support me – The Owner, The Chairman Khaldoon, Ferran, Txiki, the players 6 of course the fans… everyone connected to Manchester City. It has always been an honour, a pleasure and a privilege to be here. I have said this many times before, but I have everything a manager could ever wish for, and I appreciate that so much. Hopefully, now we can add more trophies to the ones we have already won. That will be my focus.”

Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the two-year deal does not have any break clause which means that no matter the situation, he will remain at Manchester City no matter the situation at the club.

Manchester City suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions after their disappointing performance against Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

The Premier League Champions came into the game confirmed following their exit from the Carabao Cup and the defeat against Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League. This defeat against Brighton is Pep Guardiola’s highest number of defeats in a row across all competitions.

Guardiola lost three consecutive games previously for Manchester City in 2018 and from May to August 2021. Bayern Munich suffered three consecutive games while he was in charge of the Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich in 2015.

Manchester City have lost a Premier League game in which they led at half-time for the first time since May 2021, also away to Brighton & Hove Albion. This is also the first time that Erling Haaland has lost a Premier League match in which he scored a goal for the very first time, having won 40 and drawn six of the previous 46.

Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy wins the majority of employment tribunal claim against the former club over £11.5m in unpaid salary after he was charged with rape offences.

The ruling was presided over by Judge Joanne Dunlop during a hearing at the Manchester Employment Tribunal, who said she had concluded that Mendy is entitled to recover some, but not all of the sums claimed.

She said,

"While Mr Mendy was not in custody, he was ready and willing to work and was prevented from doing so which was unavoidable or involuntary on his part. In those circumstances, and absent any authorisation in the contract for the employer to withhold pay, he was entitled to be paid. I doubt that quite so much legal expertise and endeavour has ever before been expended in the prosecution and defence of a wages claim brought by a single claimant. But then, I am also fairly sure that no other single claimant has ever alleged that sums in the region of £11 million have been deducted from his wages.”

What happened between Benjamin Mendy and Manchester City?

The French international took Manchester City to an employment tribunal in Manchester last month ( October 2024) claiming his former club had wrongly stopped his £500,000-a-month salary after he was charged with sex offences and remanded into custody in August 2021.

The 30-year-old claimed a 22-month period, five of which were when he was in custody for breaching bail conditions and therefore not entitled to pay.

Recall that Mendy was found not guilty of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in January 2023, but the same jury could not reach a verdict on another count of rape and one count of attempted rape. This led to a retrial after which the French man was found not guilty of one charge of rape and one charge of attempted rape.

However, with this current ruling, this means that the exact amount he will receive is to be calculated by Mendy and the club, or determined at a future hearing if they cannot reach an agreement.

Pep Guardiola saw his tManchester City team suffer three consecutive defeats across all competitions for the first time since 2018.

The Premier League Champions lost their fourth Champions league game against Sporting Lisbon. The result came in the hands of Reuben Amorim, who will take charge of Manchester United from November 11, 2024, after the last international break of the year.

Guardiola was speaking after the game when he was asked about his team's performance

He said,

I cannot say much when you lose 4-1. The result is there. Congratulations Sporting de Lisboa for the game.We made a fantastic first-half. Now we are struggling to score when they create and we concede what the opponents not do much. Bournemouth aside as they were much, much better. The first-half was really, really good. From my point of view, we scored a goal, and created a lot. But every pass, simple things, we miss sometimes. They can run, and they punished us a little bit. It can happen. After the third and the fourth, we have to avoid it. Emotionally we were not stable enough and this competition you have to be stable. 2-1 is 2-1. Many minutes to happen, but we cannot give away the two actions for the third and fourth goal, we have to be emotionally more and more stable. The young lad [Jahmai Simpson-Pusey] played incredible. Rico [Lewis] as well… When you play a lot of games, you can't play with the same line-up, or the same back-four. All the season we've had problems from day one, but it is what it is.Now is a difficult moment in terms of results but I'm here. I want to be here! And I want to fight and not give up, I like this challenge that as a manager I have ahead of me, and who wants to follow me, follow us, they will be there!"

Pep Guardiola will hope that his team gets back to winning in ways when they host Brighton at the Etihad in the Premier League.
