Recent reports and speculations have hinted at the first player exit from Man United under Ruben Amorim's leadership in the 2025 transfer window.

Reports suggest that Man United are willing to part ways with Marcus Rashford during the January transfer window, setting his valuation at just £40 million ($51 million) thereby making him the first possible exit under the new head coach Ruben Amorim in the 2025 transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, the club is not anticipating substantial bids for the England international but sees his sale as a priority. United need to offload players to comply with profit and sustainability regulations, and as a homegrown player, Rashford's transfer would be considered pure profit on their financial records.

Rashford’s market value has plummeted due to underwhelming performances over the past two seasons. While Manchester United previously valued him at over £100 million, they now face diminished interest and lower offers. Should no suitable bids emerge, the club may consider alternative sales, including players like Alejandro Garnacho or Kobbie Mainoo.

Offloading Rashford would provide a financial lift for United, who are reportedly keen to move on from the 27-year-old amid concerns about his lifestyle and commitment. Rashford has scored four goals in 15 Premier League appearances in the 2024-25 season and has recently been benched in matches against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.

A product of Manchester United’s youth academy, Rashford joined the club at the age of seven. He made an explosive first-team debut in February 2016, scoring twice against Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League, followed by another brace in his Premier League debut against Arsenal just three days later.

He also found the net in his first Manchester derby, as well as on his EFL Cup and UEFA Champions League debuts. Over the years, Rashford has won an impressive collection of honors with United, including two FA Cups, two EFL Cups, the FA Community Shield, and the UEFA Europa League.

In what has been categorized as contradicting opinions, Pep Guardiola and Ilkay Gundogan have shared different opinions on Man City's 7th defeat in 10 games.

Pep Guardiola and Ilkay Gundogan offered contrasting views on Man City’s 2-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League. Gundogan voiced concerns about the team’s mentality, suggesting they need to “sacrifice more” and simplify their playstyle. He criticized City for overcomplicating their approach, losing possession in transitions, and struggling against counter-attacks.

Guardiola, however, maintained a positive outlook, commending the team’s performance despite the defeat. He disagreed with Gundogan’s assessment, emphasizing that City handled complexity well in the match and performed admirably against Juventus' defensive strategies.

The loss is City’s seventh in 10 games across all competitions, putting their Champions League campaign in jeopardy. Their next fixtures include an away game against Paris Saint-Germain and a home match against Club Brugge.

Reflecting on the defeat, Gundogan remarked, “It’s very disappointing. We had chances to score a few goals, but it feels like every attack we concede is so dangerous. Sometimes we’re a bit careless in duels. Instead of playing simple, we overcomplicate things, missing the right timing to release the ball, losing possession, and giving away counter-attacks. We’re built for possession, to keep the ball, be strong, and not lose it unnecessarily. At the moment, it’s just not working for us.”

When Guardiola was informed of Gundogan’s remarks, he responded, “He said we don’t need...sorry? No, no. Today, we did it. On other days, maybe not, but today we did it really well. We didn’t lose many balls like we have in the past. We tried to get into the best positions. Italian teams defend very deep, they’re compact, and they excel in these situations. Even so, we played true to ourselves. We didn’t get the result, but the performance was there.”

Pep Guardiola has opened up on his plans for coaching upon his departure from Man City when his contract comes to an end.

Pep Guardiola has dismissed the prospect of managing another club once his iconic tenure at Manchester City concludes.

The 53-year-old ended speculation about his future in November by signing a two-year contract extension. This new agreement extends his stay at the Etihad Stadium to over a decade, following his arrival in 2016.

Guardiola, who previously achieved great success with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, has cemented his legacy at City as the club’s most decorated manager. During his time with the Citizens, he has secured 18 trophies across seven competitions, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy, maintaining an impressive 71.5% win rate from 495 games.

What is next for Man City after a bad run of form?

After guiding City to an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, Guardiola now faces one of his most challenging periods, with the team recording just one win in their last nine games across all competitions. Despite this, Guardiola remains committed to restoring his team’s dominance.

He has also affirmed his loyalty to Manchester City, vowing to remain as manager even if the club faces relegation due to alleged financial rule breaches. His current contract runs until the summer of 2027.

Has Guadiola coached a country before?

In a conversation with Spanish chef Dani Garcia on the Desmontadito YouTube channel, Guardiola confirmed he would not manage another club after leaving City.

"I'm not going to manage another team," he stated. "I'm not speaking about the distant future, but I won’t leave Man City, go to another country, and repeat what I’m doing now. I wouldn't have the energy. Starting from scratch, with the training process and everything else… No, no, no! Perhaps a national team role, but that’s different."

Earlier this year, Guardiola was linked with the England national team job following Gareth Southgate's departure. However, the Football Association appointed Thomas Tuchel on an 18-month contract. There has also been speculation about him managing Brazil, with football legend Ronaldo reportedly interested in hiring him if he becomes president of the Brazilian Football Confederation.

Will Guardiola take a break from coaching?

Guardiola also hinted at taking a break from football, likening it to chefs who pause their careers to reflect on their work. "I should stop, like these chefs who travel to other countries. Take time to evaluate what we’ve done well and what we can improve. When you’re working day after day, you don’t have that opportunity," he explained.

"I want to stop and play golf, but I can’t. Taking a break would be good for me," added Guardiola, who previously took a year-long sabbatical before joining Bayern Munich in 2013.

As Guardiola readies his team for their Champions League clash against Juventus on Wednesday, his focus remains firmly on his current role at Manchester City.

Following a disturbing video of David Coote a referee in the English premier league the PGMOL have made a final decision on his future as an official.

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has issued a statement regarding the future of controversial referee David Coote.

Coote had been suspended last month and placed under investigation by PGMOL after a video allegedly showing him making derogatory comments about Liverpool and their former manager Jürgen Klopp surfaced on social media.

In the video, a man, believed to be Coote, was heard saying, "Liverpool were s**."* When questioned about Klopp, he allegedly described him as "a c**. Absolute c***,"* citing past interactions, including an incident during a lockdown match between Liverpool and Burnley. The man added, "I’ve got no interest in speaking to somebody who’s f**ing arrogant. [James] Milner’s alright. I get on with Milner."*

On Monday, following the conclusion of the investigation, PGMOL released a statement confirming Coote's dismissal.

The statement read, "After a thorough investigation into David Coote’s conduct, his employment with PGMOL has been terminated with immediate effect. Coote’s actions were determined to be a serious breach of his employment contract, rendering his position untenable."

It further emphasized, "While his employment has ended, we remain committed to supporting David Coote and his welfare. He retains the right to appeal this decision."

Coote’s final match as referee was Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Aston Villa at Anfield on November 9, with goals from Darwin Núñez and Mohamed Salah.

Reports last month suggested that Coote might have an opportunity to continue his career abroad, with Saudi Arabia emerging as a potential destination. According to the Daily Mail, Saudi officials could offer him a lifeline to resume officiating, should he choose to leave English football.

The report noted, "Saudi Arabia may provide an escape route for David Coote if he is sacked, with some seeing his position in English football as unsalvageable. This could present him with a chance to rebuild his career in the Middle East."

  • Hans Hateboer: Still recovering from a long-term injury.

Real Madrid head coach, Carlo Ancelotti in his latest pre-match press conference has confirmed the expected return date for Vinicius Jr.

During a press conference, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti provided an update on Vinícius Jr’s recovery and a potential return date following his recent injury. The Brazilian forward sustained a biceps femoris injury in his left leg during the match against Leganés on November 24, which has sidelined him for three games so far (a victory over Getafe and losses to Liverpool and Athletic Club).

Vinícius is expected to be out for three to four weeks but has shown significant progress, recently rejoining team training sessions. His anticipated return is December 14, when Real Madrid faces Rayo Vallecano. Ancelotti will look to players like Kylian Mbappé, Brahim Díaz, and Jude Bellingham to fill the void left by Viní, who is the team’s top scorer this season with 12 goals and five assists across all competitions.

Ancelotti shared his optimism, stating: “Seeing Vinícius back is great news. He’s recovered very well. He won’t be available for tomorrow’s game, but he’ll be ready for the Champions League.” The manager also mentioned David Alaba, noting that the defender still needs a month to fully recover and is expected back in January.

While Vinícius is set to miss Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga match against Girona on December 8, depending on his recovery progress, he is likely to make his comeback in their Champions League clash against Atalanta on December 10.

Ruben Amorim’s transition from Sporting CP to Manchester United has sparked concerns about Sporting’s recent performances. During his tenure, Amorim revitalized the Portuguese club, leading them to two Primeira Liga titles—their first in 19 years—and securing two Taça da Liga trophies. His time at the helm was characterized by a strong team identity and significant progress on the pitch.

Amorim, who joined Sporting in 2020, departed in November 2024 to succeed Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. At the time of his exit, Sporting CP had enjoyed an exceptional start to the 2024-25 season, riding an eight-match winning streak. Joao Pereira took over as head coach and began promisingly with a commanding 6-0 victory over Amarante. However, the team's form has since deteriorated, with three consecutive defeats marking their worst losing streak since the 2019-20 season.

Sporting’s slump began with a Champions League loss to PSV Eindhoven, followed by league defeats to Famalicão and Rio Ave. The latest setback (a 1-0 defeat to Moreirense) has further fueled fan dissatisfaction. According to O Jogo, travelling supporters expressed their frustration during Thursday's match, waving white handkerchiefs as a call for Pereira’s dismissal.

Having overseen just four matches, Pereira has faced mounting pressure within his short stint as manager. While the team adjusts to the post-Amorim era, the true extent of the impact of Amorim’s departure remains to be fully understood.

Reports now indicate that football might be set to get two new changes in terms of the rules of the game in the coming seasons.

IFAB is reportedly considering changes to the football rules surrounding time-wasting and offside, partly influenced by Arsenal legend Arsène Wenger.

According to The Times, one proposed amendment would penalize goalkeepers holding the ball for more than eight seconds by awarding a corner kick to the opposing team. This contrasts with the current rule, which allows referees to issue an indirect free-kick for time-wasting, though this is rarely enforced due to delays in setting up the play.

The new regulations, developed under Wenger’s role as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, are already being trialled in the Premier League’s Under-21 competition, Malta, and Italy’s U20 league. These experiments aim to refine time-wasting measures and improve offside rule clarity, potentially incorporating advanced technology to assist referees.

Key Proposed Changes:

  • Time-Wasting: Stricter enforcement on how long goalkeepers can hold the ball, with corner kicks acting as a significant deterrent.
  • Offside Rule: Potential adjustments to reduce disputes, likely involving technological tools.

The trials' outcomes, particularly in Italy, will determine if these changes are implemented globally to enhance the game’s flow and fairness.

Patrick Nelson, CEO of the Irish FA, highlighted promising results from the trials, stating that awarding corners for excessive ball-holding has been a strong deterrent. He noted, “The data shows almost no corners being awarded, suggesting goalkeepers are releasing the ball faster, exactly as intended.”

Nelson added that the potential consequences of conceding a corner, especially one leading to a goal, would prompt goalkeepers to adapt their behaviour quickly, fundamentally altering their approach to time management during games.

The nominees for the Player of the Month for November 2024 in the Premier League have been confirmed in an official announcement.

Following an impressive run of form in November 2024, footballers who have had an impressive campaign have all been recognized as nominees for the Player of the Month award by the Premier League.

The Premier League Player of the Month shortlist for November 2024 features prominent names such as Bukayo Saka and Bruno Fernandes among eight nominees. Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, who topped the league in goal contributions during the month, also earned a spot on the list.

Cunha, representing Wolverhampton Wanderers, had an impressive November, recording three goals and three assists to directly contribute to six goals. Meanwhile, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes played a pivotal role in leading his team to an unbeaten run following Erik ten Hag's departure. Fernandes not only scored twice and provided an assist but also created 14 chances—the most in the league for the month.

Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch secured a nomination after solidifying his position in midfield and helping the Reds maintain an eight-point lead at the top of the table. Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard made a significant impact as well, returning to full fitness and contributing either a goal or an assist in each of his three matches. Ødegaard also created 11 chances, the second-highest in the league for November.

Brighton & Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro earned his place on the list for directly contributing to four goals in just 161 minutes of action. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka was recognized for scoring twice and providing three assists in November, matching the league-high for assists.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is considered the favorite to win the award, having been involved in five of Liverpool’s seven goals during the month. Brentford striker Yoane Wissa also made the shortlist after converting three goals from just four shots on target in November.

Reports have continued to suggest that Nigeria's Ademola Lookman might be poised for a move to the Premier League in the January 2025 transfer window.

Liverpool is reportedly eyeing Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah. Salah has been in sensational form this season, playing a pivotal role in keeping Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. However, his future at the club remains uncertain as he approaches the final months of his current contract.

The Egyptian star, whose deal expires at the end of the ongoing campaign, has not received a new contract offer from Liverpool. This situation has prompted the club to begin identifying possible replacements, with Italian outlet Gazzetta highlighting Lookman as a standout candidate for the role.

Salah’s performances this season have been remarkable, tallying 13 goals and eight assists in 20 appearances. Most recently, he netted twice and set up another goal in Liverpool’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle at Saint James' Park.

Despite his stellar contributions, Salah has openly expressed doubts about his future at Anfield, stating, "I'm more out than in," and revealing that no discussions regarding a contract extension have taken place.

The 32-year-old has also been linked with potential moves to elite European clubs, including PSG, as speculation about his next steps continues to build.

It has also been revealed that Liverpool aren't the only Premier League side interested in making an official bid for Lookman, top sides like Tottenham and Newcastle are also showing interest in signing the forward.

The finalists for the CAF Women's Player of the Year 2024 award have been confirmed in an official announcement.

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been honoured once again for her stellar performances, earning a spot on the shortlist for the 2024 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

The Paris FC shot-stopper is among the final five nominees for the prestigious accolade, which will be announced on December 16, 2024, at the Palais des Congrès de Marrakech in Morocco.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the top five nominees across various women’s categories for the 2024 CAF Awards. Nnadozie has also been nominated for the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, a title she proudly claimed last year.

CAF revealed that the awards cover the period from January to October 2024. “This year’s nominees showcase excellence in women’s football across Africa, recognizing outstanding performances at both club and national team levels,” CAF stated. The Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year category features five exceptional goalkeepers, while the Interclub Player of the Year award highlights the top performers in continental competitions.

For the Women’s Player of the Year title, Nnadozie will compete against Malawi’s “dynamic sisters” Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, Morocco’s Sanaâ Mssoudy, and Zambia’s Barbra Banda.

In other categories, Falconets forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu has been shortlisted for the Women’s Young Player of the Year award, thanks to her impressive display at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Nigerian champions Edo Queens, who finished fourth at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, are contenders for the Women’s Club of the Year award. Meanwhile, the Super Falcons are in the running for Women’s National Team of the Year, competing against South Africa, Morocco, Zambia, and Cameroon’s U-20 team.

Falconets head coach Chris Danjuma also made the Coach of the Year award shortlist.

CAF noted that the winners in each category would be selected through a voting process involving the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, head coaches, and captains of Member Associations, as well as clubs participating in the group stages of interclub competitions.
